snoco-living_201404042Spring is in full gear. The weather forecast for the beginning of May sounds more like Summer than Spring. And guess what else May brings? The beginning of some of the best Farmer’s Markets in the Puget Sound region.

Agriculture has been a dominant feature of Snohomish County’s fertile landscape since the County was founded in 1861. Farming is very important to our regions economy. Supporting our local farmers is essential. Eating locally grown food that can be traced from the seed on to harvest has become more important than ever. Our farmers truly make our region special!

The first market of the season begins Saturday, May 3rd in Edmonds. It’s their Garden Market that is only open during Spring. Hours are 9-2. The following Thursday, May 8th, kicks off the Snohomish Spring Market. Hours are 3-7 each Thursday. The final Farmers Market starting this month is the Everett Farmers Market, located on the waterfront of Everett. It begins Sunday, May 18th and the hours are 11-4 each Sunday. Live music is a common addition to this popular market. Local artists are also an integral part of every Farmers Market in the County.

Many of you have heard about the upcoming year-round Farmers Market and Food Hub in downtown Everett. We are so excited about this important hub that will help provide local healthy food to all of our citizens.

Every month, we will share what we love about Snohomish County, our favorite place to live, work and play in Washington state. If you would like to share what you love best about our region, please feel free to comment here or share on our facebook page: Starting this month, we will pick one lucky person who shares what they love most about Snohomish County. That person will receive a $15 Starbucks card. Good luck to all! The drawing will take place at the end of each month by placing all participants names in a hat and randomly drawing a name.
